HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA.

There is high level of unemployment in the country, now the question is:how are we going to solve this problem? The government should provide more infrastructures and setup a training exercise for youths who are interested to be their own boss.Due to low rate of employment, youths engage themselves with different kinds of illegal acts which could be harmful to the society.lets also take for example the monthly “alawi”given to corp members could also be saved for them,so that at end of their service it will be useful and it will help them to startup a small business. The government should encourage this youths by setting up NGO’s that will help build their spirit and motivate them in a positive way.It is not about spending millions of naira on things that are not important and then watching our future leaders, the youths wasting away their time and talent. These youths are future leaders, that will someday rule this country,so why should they be ignored?Let the government look into the issue of unemployment and help this youths. The government can also provide them with good working tools, create scholarship scheme inorder to help the less priviledged. The youths should also learn some handwork like sewing, makeup and so many other things they can lay their hands on.In that way,the level of unemployment will be reduced.Building of shops can also serve as a good way of helping out.

Last week I read your opinion piece on the Sydney Morning Herald website, along with the comments it generated. I must admit, I originally felt a lot of the ire that was expressed there, but I realise it’s not fair or productive to respond with scorn or sarcasm – that would only serve to distance our positions further, and one of the chief goals of the arts is, in my…
